Finn Jones Will Play Danny Rand In Iron Fist And The Defenders

UPDATE: Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that Finn Jones will play Danny Rand:

That Hashtag Show, which is a pretty reliable site who came with the Iron Fist-synopsis and character breakdown, Agents of SHIELD Slingshot-casting and many more rumors that turned out to be 100% true, has learned that Finn Jones (Loras Tyrell, Game of Thrones) could be Iron Fist in Marvel’s Iron Fist and Marvel’s The Defenders and countless other appearances in the MCU down the line as well:

”JoBlo recently confirmed that the casting information we had received about Slingshot on Marvel’s Agents of Shield was accurate, the same source that provided us with that news may have let slip the identity of who Marvel has chosen for the title Role in the new Netflix series. However, at the moment we’re going to be classifying this as a rumor, we haven’t been able to confirm it with our regular Marvel Source, but, we have a good feeling about it.”

Finn Jones is definitely the right age for Danny Rand and hasn’t done a whole lot besides GoT (which is always good when you want to cast someone for a big tv-series/film contract), he looks the part, and he’s done a very good job on GoT and will probably not have a big role in Game of Thrones in the near future (if you have read the books, you know what I’m talking about).

Something that is pretty noticeable and suspicious is that Finn Jones hasn’t been that active on social media as he normally is and in January, Mike Colter aka Luke Cage mentioned that Marvel already had cast Danny Rand. Finn Jones probably started martial arts classes and fitness way before that to get in shape for the audition, which would be too revealing to post about on social media.

Finn Jones definitely falls in line with Marvel’s casting tradition of getting unknown actors and actresses like Charlie Cox (before Daredevil, he was only known for a role in Boardwalk Empire), Chloe Bennett (before Agents of SHIELD, she only had a role in Nashville) and Hayley Atwell (before Captain America: The First Avenger, she starred in the mini-series Pillars of the Earth) for example. For the villain in the Iron Fist-series they could pick another well-know actor with the same range as Vincent D’Onofrio and David Tennant to balance it.

Marvel’s Daredevil Season 2 will premiere on March 18, followed by the Luke Cage Netflix-series which is probably going to premiere at the end of this summer or in the fall season around the release of Doctor Strange. Marvel’s Iron Fist, Marvel’s Jessica Jones Season 2 and Marvel’s The Defenders are expected to release in 2017 or 2018, with rumors of an Punisher Netflix-series and other potential spinoffs, the Marvel Netflix MCU is not going away soon.
