Wonder Woman is releasing into theaters with a great buzz surrounding it. These days, movies judge a film by getting the movie’s aggregate score from sites like Rotten Tomatoes and according to the current rankings, Wonder Woman has beaten both Marvel and DC movies with the highest RT score.

Current stats show that Wonder Woman is sitting on a solid 97% on Rotten Tomatoes; that’s higher than all-time greats like Iron Man (94%) or Avengers (92%). Furthermore, even the most recent highly-acclaimed superhero movies like Deadpool (84%), Guardians of the Galaxy (81%) or Logan (92%). Wonder Woman takes the crown in holding the highest score for any movie by DC or Marvel Studios.

In addition, many viewers are comparing Wonder Woman to Richard Donner’s Superman (93%). In fact, it’s stated by the film’s cinematographer says that Wonder Woman has taken inspiration from Richard Donner’s Superman and Batman Begins.

We were setting out to make something close to Richard Donner’s Superman or Batman Begins. We wanted to do her story that kind of justice so every day felt like we had that monkey on our back.

It’s going to be a hard pill to swallow for those who have grown the formula of Marvel movies being the clear front-runner. Nonetheless, regardless that DCEU may have stumbled a little according to some, it would appear that 2017 is the year for DC films.
