‘Black Panther’: Zuri Will Be Someone T’Challa “Looks To For Guidance”

With the new Black Panther teaser dropping yesterday, all sorts of speculation, analysis, and explanation have come up as to what more the film will hold. While we know it will focus on T’Challa, and Wakanda, we should also brace ourselves to meet some cool new characters from the Black Panther mythos.

One character in particular, Zuri, will serve to be a rock of sorts to T’Challa. Zuri will be played by Forest Whitaker, we got to see him in the teaser trailer for a bit.

Director Ryan Coogler spoke about the role Zuri will have in the film.

He’s somewhat a religious figure or spiritual figure. Spirituality is something that exists in Wakanda in the comics, and it’s something we wanted to have elements of in the film. Forest’s character, more than anything, is a major tie-back to T’Challa’s father. Zuri is someone he looks to for guidance.

With the filming finished, expect more promotional material to be rolling out in the coming months. The film is gathering steam, and is looking to be another promising addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
