Michael Bay Says He Won’t Come Back For ‘Transformers 6’

Michael Bay has had a busy career, most recently with the latest Transformers film, Transformers: The Last Knight. It has recently been confirmed that Bay won’t be coming back for the sixth installment. While the films have been heavily criticized, it’s hard to argue with their monetary success (3.7+ Worldwide) .

Bay spoke about stepping away from the franchise.

These movies that I’ve done, they are massive movies. They take a lot out of you.

I’ve done it enough, and I’ve had a great time doing it. I’m going out with a bang on this one, and I feel like you gotta go out while you’re ahead, you know. I think I’ve had a good run, and I’ve got a lot of other movies I want to do.

Speaking of future endeavors for the Director, what’s on his plate?

I just read a very bloody hit man movie that was a page turner. That seems like a fun one to do. I love doing 13 Hours, I love doing Pain & Gain — I think it’ll be something more serious and more adult, I guess.

Bay certainly has a lot of options as to future films, so don’t expect him to leave directing all together. Also, the Transformers franchise is set to continue, even without Bay, as spinoff films are being talked about. Is that good news? We’ll have to wait and see.

Make sure to go check out Transformers: The Last Knight, in theaters June 20!
