‘Avengers: Infinity War’: Dave Bautista Talks Working With Russo Brothers!

Avengers: Infinity War will be the host to a multitude of MCU characters. One such, is Dave Bautista’s Drax. Drax will join forces with the Avengers to take on Thanos in the upcoming film, which is the culmination of the Marvel movies so far. Infinity War will be directed by the Russo brothers, and Bautista has recently opened up about what it’s like to work with them!

My biggest, pleasant surprise was working with the Russo brothers. Cause I was familiar with their films, but I wasn’t familiar with how they did, you know, things on set, how they directed films. And my big concern crossing over was that someone was going to try to take James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy and turn them into their version of the Guardians of the Galaxy. It worried me a little bit because I had already done two Guardians films and, you know, I knew Drax, I was comfortable with Drax and who he was and I didn’t want to take him in a weird direction that I didn’t think was good for the character. But it wasn’t that at all. They kind of just let us do our thing. They gave us free reign to be the Guardians that we know and love and also gave us the luxury of having James Gunn write for us a little bit. But I was just amazed at how supportive they were on letting us just be our characters. They were like, ‘Just go for it.’ We’re really big on improving stuff, the Guardians are, and we started doing it business as usual and they just really got behind. […] That’s something I honestly just wasn’t expecting, for someone to be so giving and just let us be ourselves. And I just like them as people. They’re really fun to work with.

Looking forward to seeing Drax be himself in Infinity War? Let us know in the comments below!
