Matt Reeves Confirms ‘The Batman’ Is Starting From Scratch!

In March there was a rumor that The Batman script would be beginning from the start, and this has now been confirmed by none other than Matt Reeves.

Reeves was a guest on MTV’s Happy Sad Confused podcast and host Josh Horowitz had asked if he was going to be working off Ben Affleck and Geoff John’s script. “No, it’s a new story. It’s just starting again. I’m excited about it. I think it’s going to be really cool.” Reeves had responded.

Depending on this information, this could be bad news for Joe Manganiello, who was set to be playing the infamous villain Deathstroke. Reeves has previously mentioned that his take on The Batman will be a noir driven, detective version. Perhaps we’ll be seeing Batman take on another big bad as to fit the story of the movie. This is speculation and doesn’t rule out that Deathstroke may still be the villain of the movie. After all, Reeves didn’t say how far his take will be from the original script created by Ben Affleck and Geoff John.

Reeves has also explained to Warner Bros. that he will be requiring a three-year break after working on War for the Planet of the Apes. In saying that, it’s quite fair to say that we can’t expect production to begin anytime soon for The Batman.

Some may see this news as a disadvantage to the movie, personally, I trust Matt Reeves and the way he operates when creating a movie that he’s passionate about. Overall, what do you think of this new insight?
