‘Spider-Man’: Tom Holland Wants Tobey Maguire As MCU’s Uncle Ben!?
As Spider-Man: Homecoming hit theaters last week, fans, and critics alike drew parallels between the film, and it’s predecessors. While there are a few good similarities, much has been changed from the originals. One such, was the lack of an Uncle Ben. In the first two iterations, Peter Parker went through the whole origin of Spider-Man, where Uncle Ben was killed off. This version starts off after those events, and it seemed to go over well with fans.
What about Uncle Ben in the MCU, though? He certainly must have existed, and maybe we’ll see him in a flashback in future Spider-Man films? Who could play him? Tom Holland, the man behind his version of Peter Parker, says Tobie Maguire from the original Spider-Man films! He spoke to BBC Radio 1 on the topic.
I kinda want Tobey Maguire to play Uncle Ben, I think that’d be super funny, but I don’t think he’ll do it.
This could actually work, now that they have a much younger Aunt May. Tobey Maguire isn’t old, but his age could certainly fit in to what they need. Likewise, it would be an epic nod to the original films, to bring him back in that kind of role. It would be one of those “full circle” kind of moments, and would certainly be entertaining to see the two (Holland and Maguire) on screen at the same time.
