Review: NO ROMANCE #1 | Hilarious And Engaging Escapism
Out now is No Romance #1 by Tony McDougall (Hero Killer) and Rhoda Villegas, a new comic series exploring the lives of three friends attempts in having a love life.
Matt goes the traditional route, Dave through the world of online dating, and Jon… is having a crisis of sorts. See below.
A funny, character-driven book, No Romance is a nice break from the standard comic book shelf, and while it keeps a light-hearted and entertaining feel it still manages to hold some weight. Think along the lines of How I Met Your Mother, where the angst is swapped for a feel-good factor.
Villegas’ art, as seen above, is bright and charming, setting a perfect tone for the book — I can’t (and don’t want to) imagine it otherwise.
If you’re looking for some light-hearted escapism that’s still engaging, No Romance is the best place to find it.
Relationships are never easy. Just ask Matt, Dave and Jon. Join these three 30-something friends for a pint in the local pub as they recall their latest relationship triumphs and mishaps. Each one of them attempts to smoothly navigate their way through a relationship and hide the fact, that like most of us, they have no idea what they are doing.
